A Tantalizing Twist on a Classic Recipe

The base of this delightful dessert, much like our familiar 🥘Persian Halva, consists of wheat flour. However, the magic happens when we introduce other delightful ingredients such as dried milk and cornstarch. This combination creates a softer, more delicate texture than its Persian counterpart – perfect for a mouthwatering after-dinner sweet.

A Symphony of Flavors

To elevate the taste and aroma of the Arabic halwa, we use cardamom powder, rose water, and saffron. The fragrant cinnamon powder is another potential game-changer that can add a warm and inviting depth to your halva. But remember, the beauty of cooking lies in personalization – feel free to experiment with your favorite spices.

Don’t Stop at One!

If this Arabic Halva Recipe tantalizes your taste buds, I highly recommend you try the 🥕Carrot Halwa and 🎃Pumpkin Halwa too. Both these desserts are packed with flavors and beautiful colors that are guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

Ingredients for the Halva
  • 1 cup white wheat flour
  • 1 cup unsalted dry milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
Ingredients for the Halva Syrup
  • 2 ½ cups of water
  • 1 cup sugar for extra sweetness, add an additional ½ cup
  • ½ cup rose water
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons bloomed saffron
Instructions

  • First things first, to craft the perfect Arabic Halva, we begin with the syrup. Combining water, sugar, bloomed saffron, cardamom powder, and rosewater in a saucepan, we gently heat the mixture just enough to allow the sugar to dissolve completely. Remember, we don't need the syrup to boil. As soon as the sugar is fully dissolved, take the pan off the heat and set it aside.
  • Next, pour white flour, cornstarch, dried milk, and vegetable oil into a pan and place it over low heat. Patiently stir the mixture until it transforms into a beautiful café-au-lait shade. This browning process releases the nutty aroma of the flour and forms the base flavor of our delectable Arabic Halva.
  • Once the flour mixture has reached its perfect color, remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool slightly for about five minutes. Now, it's time to bring the syrup back into play. Gradually pour the syrup into the cooled flour mixture, then return the pan to the stove over low heat.
  • This next step requires patience, my dear cooks! Gently stir the mixture until it pulls away from the sides of the pan, indicating that it's reached the desired stretchy texture. As soon as you see this, remove the pan from the heat. Your Arabic Halva is nearly ready!
  • Scoop your halva into your preferred dish and let your artistic side shine as you add your favorite garnishes. To bring an extra layer of flavor and texture, try dusting it with pistachio powder or coconut flakes. Trust me; these final touches transform the delicious Arabic Halva into a dessert that's as pleasing to the eyes as it is to the palate.
  • I hope this suits your needs! Enjoy crafting this beautiful and scrumptious Arabic Halva.

The Addition of Almond Slivers

Some home chefs love adding a handful of almond slivers at the end of cooking to give our lovely Halva an extra flavor boost. This addition is entirely up to you and your personal taste. Feel free to get creative and substitute with other ingredients like walnut pieces or pistachio slivers. After all, it’s your Halva masterpiece!
